Teachings on the general program (GP) are open to everyone and don’t require registration. These include all half-hour meditations and weekly classes (Mon PM, Tues AM, Wed PM, Thurs AM). Registration is required only for retreats and weekend events.

Please note: Aside from the Thursday evening class and the Thursday noon meditation, all other classes are offered in French.

  • GP classes are suitable for beginners as well as more advanced practitioners.
  • It is possible to drop-in to any GP class even in the middle of a series.
  • Classes start on time, it is preferable to arrive at least 10 minutes in advance if you wish to attend. Allow plenty of time if you travel by car as parking is extremely difficult to find on the Plateau Mont-Royal. We recommend taking public transportation.
  • Classes last approximately 75 min.


Kadampa Buddhist classes are suitable for anyone interested in learning to or deepening meditation, regardless of their personal past and believes. They are designed to bring a deep understanding of meditation and Buddhist teachings and practices. Buddhism is a path open to everyone and is based on personal choices. Everyone has choice to decide what they wish to take in and what they are comfortable doing.


These classes are especially designed to relax our mind in order to go back home or carry on with our day refreshed and re-energised. They will give you simple yet profound tools to deal with stress and anxiety. They will help you to overcome negative states of mind such as anger and jealousy and help you generate and cultivate positive states of mind such as love and patience. Every class begins with a short meditation to relax our mind and is followed by a short prayer and a practical teaching on a specific topic according to the class. Every class ends with a reminder about how we can integrate this teaching into our busy life.


Do I need to be Buddhist to practice and receive the benefits of kadampa meditation? No. Anyone can learn the basics of meditation and experienced the benefits of a peaceful mind. We try to present Buddha’s teachings in a way that is accessible to everyone. Kadampas respect everyone and are happy to help anyone regardless of religious background.

Do I need to have experience of meditation or Buddhism to attend a weekly class?

No. Everyone is welcome, including beginners. All you need is to have the wish to improve your inner qualities to become a more peaceful person.

Are the classes suitable for someone with some experience of meditation?
Yes. The teachings are designed to be simple yet profound, so that every class provides something for everyone.

If I want to attend a weekly class, do I need to wait for the next series of classes to begin?
No. Each class is self-contained. You can drop in and start whenever you can.

Do I need to book in advance?
For weekly classes it is not necessary to book in advance

Are all the classes on your website offered in English?
No. Unfortunately, at this time, the English meditation and class are only held on Thursday. Some courses and weekend special events can be translated. Email us to find out if a course you are interested in attending is translated.

Is there any physical exercise involved, such as yoga?
No. The courses focus on meditation alone. We have chairs and cushions for people to sit on according to their level of comfort.

How should I dress?
There are no special requirements, but comfortable clothing is generally best especially if sitting cross-legged on a cushion.

What do I need to bring?
Nothing in particular. However, some people find it useful to bring a notepad and pen to take notes.

Will I be asked to say anything, or speak in front of a group of people?
No. But you can ask questions if you want to.

How is the class structured?
Each class includes 2 guided meditations, and a talk which gives practical advice to solve our daily problems, change our bad habits and learn to cultivate a peaceful, relaxed mind.
